“The reason birds can fly and we can't is simply because they have perfect faith, for to have faith is to have wings.”
― J.M. BarrieThe Little White Bird

It's amazing how every color can be found in nature.. even the unexpected ones.

I have always thought it would be amazing to be able to fly, and soar as the birds do. Only recently have I started to realize that we all fly, in our own ways. You know that feeling you get when you accomplish something that everyone told you that you could not accomplish? That's what it feels like to fly. To be able to do the impossible is to fly.

As a Christian, I need to reach out to those who the world might be afraid to reach out to or associate with because of their differences. As a future elementary/special educator, one of the ways I will be able to do this is through reaching out to those with intellectual or cultural differences. Often times, we are afraid to reach out to them because we don't know how to connect with them, or what to say to them. I have found myself struggling with this several times. As I have gotten more experience with children who have intellectual differences, I have realized that they are not unlike me. They too have hopes and dreams, and they too are taking flight in their own ways. Flying looks different for all of us, but it gives each of us the same feeling inside. The feeling that we have faced the challenges of life, and, with our Savior holding us in His arms, we have been able to fly.

I have faith that one day I will be able to touch the lives of the children who are entrusted me, and that with God's help, I will watch them take flight.
